Online voting now open for the top moments in North Texas Football history

Voting for High School moments is now open

Alert to football fans everywhere, especially North Texans: Online voting is now underway to determine the “100 Greatest Moments in the History of North Texas Football.”

Besides casting ballots at various public outlets, fans can now vote in the comfort of their own homes at www.centuryinthemaking.com.

Results will be revealed in a series of press conferences during this fall’s State Fair of Texas in Dallas. And, one of this state’s greatest ever lists will then be furnished to the worldwide media that descends upon North Texas for Super Bowl XLV next February.

Are you feeling lucky? As an added enticement, voters are automatically entered into a sweepstakes for a shot at winning two tickets to Super Bowl XLV, compliments of the Host Committee. Available tickets to the public will be few and far between.

“We knew this would be a great way to engage North Texas football fans,” said Tony Fay, the Host Committee’s Vice President of Communications. “That’s proving correct. We’ve already received more than 50,000 votes — even before we’ve made any kind of real awareness push.”

That push will escalate with the presence of the online site and also with a series of ballots appearing in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The Star-Telegram is inserting special ballots for each voting period on the following Sundays: Feb. 28, High Schools; April 18, Colleges; June 6, Other (or miscellaneous); July 25, Pros.

Those Sunday sections will coincide with the online voting periods in each category:

  • Voting for High School moments began March 1 and will close on April 18.
  • College voting begins April 19 and runs through June 6.
  • Special category voting is June 7-25.
  • Professional football voting starts July 26 and ends on September 12.
  • Early voting has been ongoing at Host Committee functions, as well as at Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars home games, local art and music festivals and numerous other outlets.

FOX Sports Net is already working on a series of specials to help countdown the most magical moments in the Host Committee program dubbed a “Century In The Making,” which commemorated the first 100 years of football in North Texas.

“This run-up to Super Bowl XLV is a great excuse to celebrate our region’s rich football heritage,” Fay said. “Century In The Making allows us all to relive those great moments.”
