STADIUM TALK

Thursday, July 29, 2010 - 11:01am

The five most commonly overheard questions at  Super Bowl XLIII about the Cowboys’ new stadium:

5. “Just how big is that scoreboard?”
A: 160 feet long (going from the 20 to the 20) and 70 feet high. For fans seated in the stadium, it’ll be like watching a 65-inch HD television from 15 feet away.

4.“How high is the retractable roof?”
A: Let’s put it this way, you could place the Statue of Liberty (including its base) upright at the 50-yard line and still close the roof.

3. “Will it really hold 100,000 for the Super Bowl?”
A: More like 90,000 and change for those with seats, which would still make it the highest seating capacity since the game was held in the Rose Bowl in 1993. If you count those in the plaza area, the capacity could zoom past 100,000.

2. “How long will it take to open and close the roof?”
A: Approximately 12 minutes.

1. “Is it going to be able to fly?”
A: Fly, no. Hover?... you’ll have to wait and see.
