Kenneth Barr

Board

Kenneth Barr is a governmental and community relations consultant and the principal of Barr Consulting Group.  He served as mayor of Fort Worth from 1996 to 2003 and as a member of the Fort Worth City Council from 1993 to 1996. He has been actively involved in transportation related issues at the local, state and national levels for many years.

As an elected official, Mr. Barr served as chairman of the Transportation and Communications Committee and member of the Advisory Board for the U.S. Conference of Mayors, chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities and as member of the Regional Transportation Council.  He also has been chairman of the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, chairman of the DFW RAILTRAN Policy Committee; chairman of TxDOT’s Trans-Texas Corridor Advisory Committee and a member of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Board of Directors.

Mr. Barr currently serves as chairman of the North Texas Commission, Fort Worth Sister Cities International and the Development Committee of the Van Cliburn Foundation.  He also serves on the boards of Plaza Medical Center, Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council, Botanic Research Institute of Texas and Scenic Texas.

Born in Fort Worth, Mr. Barr attended Fort Worth public schools, earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas Christian University (TCU) and did graduate study in economics at TCU.  He and his wife, Karen, have one married daughter.
