Freeney Very Questionable

So there seems to be this cat-and-mouse game being played by the Indianapolis Colts concerning defensive end Dwight Freeney’s sprained ankle. There are reports of a ligament tear in his ankle and that he won’t play after suffering the injury near the end of the AFC title game. The Colts are saying he is questionable. Really? When Freeney finished his Media Day session on Tuesday at Super Bowl XLIV, he needed help from two Colts operatives to step down from, oh, maybe a two-foot high riser. And when he walked off, he did so without wearing shoes and was limping badly. Sure didn’t seem like he would be capable of playing in five days. Freeney insists he’s “day-to-day.” At best, I’d say.

As for his prospects of playing, Freeney said on Tuesday, “That’s going to be a decision that’s going to be later on in the week. It’s kind of early. This happened last week, so we definitely have some recovery to go, it’s going to be a decision made by our coaching staff come Friday, maybe Saturday, (as to) how much time I’m actually going to be playing.”
